Program Leader
I appreciate the organized yet creative programming: it’s nice to have the flexibility and confidence in the itineraries to be sort of a “backpack journalist” – while building ethical media skills."

Peace Works approaches educational travel through a Human Geographer’s lens: What is Why about this Place. What happened here? In what ways are the people and their cultural traditions affected? What systemized efforts at transcending injustice are in place? Are there successful models for creating a prosperous quality of life? What do the locals say? How can we celebrate positive change, more equitable living and the vitality of social enterprises in communities large and small?
These are the kinds of conversations we have...at inspiring events with educators, across the hallway with each other, on long plane flights with students. We love and celebrate *teachers* who want to grow with us. Together, our passion for experiential learning, connect young minds to citizen action is contagious.
We work hard. We are paid teacher’s salaries, yet enjoy more flexibility to take a breath during the school day. We go amazing places, but fly economy class. We are “go-givers”—and encourage our students to be the same. We thrive with smart, clever people. We love volunteers but require a commitment supporting specific student initiatives. Opportunities abound.
