Mira Costa School - Golden Temples & Sweaty People
by Alex Jarus on April 3, 2014 in Letters From Cambodia
Well after a struggling and dreary 19 hours on a plane & in an airport we finally arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Exhausted to no end and jet lagged beyond belief we crawled into our beds at a beautiful little guest house nestled in a back alley. We awoke in the morning to a scorching heat and a delicious breakfast. Besides the fact that I may have just got a tan in the first time in a long time, it was an out of this world day. The Royal Place (see photo above) was something straight out of a fairy tale and within the emerald buddha temple I meditated and allowed my body to be one with the natural spirits. After a melting walk to the Daughter of Cambodia and a lovely lunch we took a high noon walk over to the the Creative Arts Center. While at the CAC we got to learn a tradition dance and we learned how to play the Cambodian Guitar . Day one overall was one full of gallons of sweat and gorgeous golden architecture.
